The heat is on again today with a large portion of the country being impacted by a large ridge (A ridge is a region with relatively higher heights and often a deep warm air mass). The jet stream has shifted into the Northern Plains leaving most of the Central United States high, dry and very hot.
Heat advisories, watches and warnings remain in effect for a large portion of the country. Our forecast guidance continues to show the ridge remains in place and the excessive heat continuing across the Plains, Midwest, Great Lakes and Ohio Valley through the end of the week and into the weekend.
